Biden tested positive for COVID again on Saturday in what the White House doctor described as a "rebound" case seen in a small percentage of patients who take the antiviral drug Paxlovid. 

Biden "tested positive late Saturday morning, by antigen testing," following four consecutive days of negative tests, and "will reinitiate strict isolation procedures," presidential physician Kevin O'Connor wrote in a memorandum.

"His symptoms have been steadily improving, and are almost completely resolved," the physician, Kevin O'Connor, said in a statement, noting that the president tested negative by antigen testing Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

The Justice Department has been interviewing former White House officials, including the former chief of staff to former Vice President Mike Pence, who confirmed on Monday that he had testified to a federal grand jury investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol and efforts by Trump and his allies to overturn his defeat.

Committee chairman Bennie Thompson, speaking at the televised finale of a series of public hearings into the attack, said Trump "recklessly blazed a path of lawlessness and corruption" as he sought to overturn the results of the 2020 US election.

Biden's personal physician Kevin O'Connor wrote in an official note that the US president was experiencing fatigue, a runny nose and an occasional dry cough, starting on Wednesday evening.
