icro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to official data, MSMEs account for 60 percent of Indonesia’s gross domestic product (GDP) and 97 percent of the country’s workforce.

Helping MSMEs recover from the pandemic is, therefore, crucial.

PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) has reasserted its commitment to MSMEs, which serve as Indonesia’s economic backbone, by renaming certain positions and reshuffling its board of directors during the bank’s Extraordinary General Shareholders’ Meeting (RUPSLB) in Jakarta on Thursday.

For example, the position of Director of Small, Retail and Medium Businesses has been changed to the Director of Small and Medium Businesses, while the Director of Digital, Information Technology and Operations has become the Director of Digital and Information Technology.

In addition to making the changes in nomenclature, BRI’s shareholders’ meeting also resulted in the approval of bank statutes, which, among other things, made adjustments to POJK No.15/POJK.04/2020 on the planning and holding of publicly listed companies’ RUPS and POJK No.16/POJK.04/2020 on the implementation of publicly listed RUPS electronically.

The meeting also confirmed the enforcement of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Ministerial Regulation No. PER-08/MBU/12/2019 on general guidance on the provision of SOEs’ goods and services, dated Dec. 12, 2019, with its alterations, and also confirmed the enforcement of SOEs Ministerial Regulation No. 11/MBU/11/2020 on the management contract and SOEs’ board of directors annual management contract, dated Nov. 12, 2020, as well as its alterations.

The RUPSLB also appointed Amam Sukriyanto as Director of Small and Medium Businesses, Agus Winardono as Director of Human Capital, Viviana Dyah Ayu Retno as Director of Finance and Arga Mahanana Nugraha as Director of Networking and Services.

According to BRI, the newly appointed directors will carry out their tasks and functions once they get approval from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and meet the relevant legal requirements.

The meeting also approved a shift in buybacks, deposited as treasury stock totaling 16,400,000 shares, to be carried out under the Employees’ Ownership Program.

Based on the RUPSLB 2021, the line-up of the Board of Commissioners and Board of Directors are as follows:
