View all search resultsresident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has visited a public services unit in Rogojampi Market, Banyuwangi regency, East Java, to witness how the process in the public service unit has integrated into the traditional market in the new normal era.
The President visited the market on June 25.
During the visit, Jokowi was accompanied by Coordinating Legal, Political and Security Affairs Minister Mahfud MD, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Whisnutama, national COVID-19 task force chief Doni Monardo, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas.
Jokowi paid avid attention to an explanation by Wahyu Fina, one of the officers of the integrated public service unit, about the self-service, through which residents can have access to documents or permits without having to meet an official.
The officer also told the President about the population data that is integrated into Smart Kampung, a village-based public service program developed by Banyuwangi in the last five years.
Upon listening to the explanation, Jokowi talked to his relevant ministers as he wanted other regencies/municipalities in Indonesia to replicate the concept of a public service unit integrated into traditional markets.

The public service unit is the first of its kind to be integrated into a traditional market in Indonesia and was inaugurated by former home minister Tjahjo Kumolo in April 2019.
“The establishment of the public service unit in the market aims to first, provide ease for the residents to obtain the population documents or permits they need and second, to generate economy in the markets because with the two facilities in place there, more people will come to the traditional markets. They visit the facility to process documents or obtain a permit while shopping in the traditional market,” Anas said.
The public service unit is ready to help process at least 98 types of documents, from population up to permits like Single Business Numbers, building permits (IMB), health business practices and many more.
“We will continue to increase the number of documents and permits that the public can access in the public service market, especially services integrated into non-regional governmental agencies, like in our public service unit in the mall where more than 200 permits can be processed at one location,” he said.
