inister of State-owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said that free swab test for 30,000 participants organized by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) Tbk is a tangible evidence of a strong collaboration between BUMN, the private sector, central government and regional administrations.
“The collaboration is a proof that along with the central government, regional administrations, BUMN, and the private sector, we can collaborate in dealing with COVID-19. We have no other interests. What is important is how we can serve people better,” said Erick during a ceremony to distribute BNI social aids for the implementation of free swab test in Jakarta on May 20, 2020.
Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria concurred with Erick, saying also that he appreciated the collaboration between relevant parties in the fight against COVID-19 in Indonesia.
“We have to work hand in hand in preventing and dealing with COVID-19. The role that BNI, private sector, central government and regional administrations play is what is needed now. The ultimate goal of safeguarding the interest of the people and the nation,” he said.
As announced earlier, BNI plans to conduct free swab test for 30,000 individuals in the country. The program kicked off in the Jakarta Province, to be followed by five provinces; Bali, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Central and East Java.
“The swab test procedure is expected to take place in stages in provinces until July. For the time being, we’ll conduct 30,000 free tests,” says BNI’s President Director Herry Sidharta.
According to JSK Group CEO Dennis Jang Sang Kyu, his firm expressed its appreciation for being involved in the humanitarian program "BNI Berbagi 30.000 Swab Test." He said that JSK had a moral obligation to join activities in the fight against COVID-19 in Indonesia.

BUMN Program
BNI started conducting the supporting preventive measures against COVID-19 several weeks ago. In early March, BNI and several other state-owned enterprises sent more than 160,000 protective masks to Hong Kong and other overseas cities through BNI overseas branch offices. The masks were to be distributed to Indonesian migrant workers in countries where outbreaks of COVID-19 happened.
BNI has also been recognized as the pioneer in utilizing drones to spray disinfectant at 50 spots in Greater Jakarta. In providing personal protective equipment, BNI has dispatched 30 partners to help distributing the items in various regions.
“Recently, BNI has distributed 50,000 pieces of personal protective equipment to medical teams at 182 COVID-19 referral hospitals throughout Indonesia, complete with hand sanitizer, donations for medical officers and donations to support school children,” said Herry Sidharta.
BNI Care has also worked to channel aid in the form of medical equipment, including ambulances, PCR swab test diagnostic devices, ventilators and rapid test tools to hospital . Additionally, BNI also distributed food supplies to families in needs, foundations and orphanages as well as community groups.
On top of that BNI Hi-Movers also joined the public initiatives to help people affected by COVID-19 pandemic by collecting donation. Under the plan, donation collected from the public will be disbursed to 10 clinics, 2 COVID-19 patients handling standardized ambulances, 3 sets of PCR tools, 10,000 sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), 51,000 COVID-19 tests and food supplies for 313,000 families.
