Aware of this, the founder of Diaspora Indonesia, Dino Patti Djalal, along with the Manpower Ministry, have jointly initiated afundraising program to collect donationsfrom Diaspora Indonesia, of which the funds will go to workers who have lost their livelihoods.
Based on data from 167 Indonesian representative offices overseas, the diaspora community is estimated at between 4.7 million and 8 million. The donation is set at US$50 and can be given for three months to one year and will be disbursed to the recipient every month.
PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk (BNI) has been appointed the banking partner for the “Diaspora Peduli” (Diaspora Care) Program through the provision of a virtual account and the opening of bank accounts for the recipients of the donation.
In attendance at the launch of the “Diaspora Peduli”Program in Jakarta on May 18 were Dino, Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah, BNI head of institutional relations Sis Apik Wijayanto and the president of Indonesia Diaspora Network (IDN) Global, Said Zaidansyah.
Sis said that the collaboration had proven that BNI’s Cash Management service was entrusted to carry out the crucial task. On previous occasions, BNI played a significant role in enabling athletes and officials of the 2018 Asian Games and delegates of the 2018 IMF Annual Meeting to make transactions through the Virtual Account application.
“In the course of taking part in fighting the coronavirus pandemic, BNI is entrusted to be a bank that manages the Diaspora Peduli Donation account through BNI Direct and the Virtual Account application.
“The collaboration is expected to boost BNI servicesto its customers,” Sis said.
