s one of the official insurance partners of the 2018 Asian Games, workers social security agency BPJS Ketenagakerjaan recently gave its highest praises to Indonesian athletes who competed in the 18th Asiad for their hard work and achievements in the event.
The 18th Games were held from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2 in Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra. According to the Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC), it brought together 17,000 athletes from across 45 countries.
The Indonesian contingent ranked fourth in the Games’ final medal tally after it won 31 gold, 24 silver and 43 bronze medals in different sporting disciplines.
“We are very proud of the Indonesian team’s achievement during the Games. They attained this through their hard work and sacrifice; some of them even sustained injuries while competing in the event,” BPJS Ketenagakerjaan president director Agus Susanto said.

“As the Indonesian team’s official partner, we are striving to give our best in taking care of its members during and after the Games, including by providing them the workplace hazard protection package, ensuring that those who sustain injuries when competing get free treatment until they recuperate,” Agus said.
Agus added the agency’s workplace hazard protection package applies no ceilings for its members’ treatment allowances, which cover in-patient, out-patient and medication fees while they recover.
Should any of the members suffer from any disabilities because of their injuries, the agency will provide assistance based on the severity of the injury, Agus said.
According to data from the agency, 38 Indonesian athletes are currently recovering from their injuries and thereby receiving medical assistance.
Against all odds, Agus said he was happy that Indonesia was able to overcome the challenges and attained big achievements at the 18th Games, a feat that could not be separated from the vocal support these athletes received from their loyal fans.
“We are also preparing some awards for the Indonesian team, to show our appreciation of their hard work and big achievements at the Games, and to motivate them to maintain their high performance in upcoming international sports events such as the 2019 Southeast Asian Games and the 2020 Summer Olympics,” Agus stated.
