View all search resultshe Directorate General of Immigration recently held a workshop titled "Verifying Indonesian Travel Documents, Interview Strategies and Service Ethics" that was attended by immigration officials tasked with issuing passports.
Immigration director general Ronny F. Sompie called on all those present to continue to enthusiastically serve the public. This spirit of service, according to Ronny, would help to uphold the government's “Nawa Cita” (nine key programs) vision.
This outlook will be in line with the public's expectations of a high-quality public service.
"Let us improve our performance so that we can increase public satisfaction for immigration services," Ronny said at the event, which was attended by 80 officials from an immigration office in Sumatra.
The directorate general also warned its officials about the importance of maintaining the principle of prudence in the field. It was not enough to go through formal requirements when issuing Indonesian travel documents, officials also have to be careful when verifying documents submitted by passport applicants, it added.
"Good and proper interview techniques are also required so that officials can know the intent and purpose of the applicants when they submit Indonesian travel documents," Ronny added.
At the workshop, the director general also encouraged officials to adopt a preventative approach that protect Indonesian citizens traveling abroad.
"Since 2017, I have begun this policy in order to protect our citizens so that they don't turn into non-procedural Indonesian laborers (TKI)," Ronny said.
As of this month, the directorate general rejected 3,210 passport requests from applicants who allegedly wanted to work as non-procedural TKIs. The directorate general has also delayed the departure of 2,015 passengers suspected of wanting to work as non-procedural TKIs.
