T

he Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) has just recorded a year-on-year (yoy) increase in the agency’s business performance – measured by the number of newly registered workers as well as newly registered employers – in January 2018 compared to the same period in 2017.

As of January 2018, the agency recorded the membership totaling 45.12 million individuals, with 26.36 million active members. The number signified a 10.26 percent increase in new worker membership compared to the same period in 2017.

On the other hand, the agency also recorded an increase in new employer membership, amounting to 495,712 employers newly registered, signifying a 35.22 percent increase compared to the same period in 2017.

According to BPJS Ketenagakerjaan president director Agus Susanto, the agency’s improved performance in January 2018 is thanks to its staff members’ continual efforts to refine its business strategies to protect workers across Indonesia.

“To begin the new year of 2018, we continuously strive to provide the best protection to all Indonesian workers by, among other things, adapting the most current integration method for all of the agency’s operating systems. We do this to optimize our services to the workers,” Agus said.

In January 2018, the agency also recorded premium accumulation amounting to Rp 3.54 trillion, which was a 21.65 percent increase from the premium accumulation from the same period in 2017, which amounted to Rp 2.91 trillion. The agency’s investment fund management also increased by 24.38 percent to Rp 321 trillion in January 2018 compared to the same period in 2017.

The agency also disbursed Rp 2.13 billion of claim payment from the agency’s four insurance programs. “We hope that we can maintain this great achievement and increase it, so that we can attain an even more satisfying achievement by the end of 2018,” Agus said.
