Participants can register their teams and compete with others in the JOOX Virtual Race 2020.
nline music streaming service JOOX is teaming up with community-based sports app Gerak to organize JOOX Virtual Race 2020, to be held from Nov. 1 to 30.
Two categories are included in the virtual race, namely running with a minimum distance of 42 kilometers and cycling with a minimum distance of 100 km. Weekly challenges will be held during the event, including the Workout from Home Challenge with influencer Jennifer Bachdim, Karaoke Challenge with singer Ghea Indrawari and Best Route Challenge with actor Ibnu Jamil.
Participants can register their teams via this website or Gerak app for free. According to the event’s Frequently Asked Question section, individuals can join this race but they are required to form a squad to register.
Registered participants can record their time and access the mobile browser version of JOOX on the Gerak app to enjoy an array of playlists, namely “Bersepeda” (Cycling) by Ibnu Jamil, “Lari” (Run) by Ghea Indrawari, “Pemanasan” (Warming Up) by Jennifer Bachdim, “Zumba K-Pop” by Friday Noraebang and “JOOX Virtual Race 2020”.
Participants who accomplish their missions will receive e-certificates, medals and trophies. Selected participants with the most kilometers collected will receive exclusive prizes, such as limited edition Nike Zoom Vaporfly shoes, a limited edition Element Fold X bike, a Garmin Forerunner 245 Music Japan edition watch and a Sony Extra Bass Bluetooth speaker.
JOOX Indonesia’s head of marketing, Yuanita Agata, said the streaming platform had taken notice of Indonesians’ enthusiasm for sports activities, especially running and cycling. “In addition to that, amid the [COVID-19] pandemic, we’re expected to stay healthy, both physically and mentally, in a very limited space,” Yuanita said in a statement. “By holding the JOOX Virtual Race, we encourage younger generations to maintain their physical and mental health.”
Launched in 2015, JOOX features over 30 million Indonesian and international tracks. The music streaming platform is celebrating its fifth anniversary by holding a series of virtual events until Oct. 28. (wir/wng)
