M

andapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Ubud, and W Bali Seminyak are collaborating to host the first-ever takeover at Ambar for two days, starting from Feb. 26. Ambar is a bar in Mandapa, and the takeover, led by the Liquid Manager of Woobar, Villa Surya Andika, will take guests on a one-of-a-kind cocktail experience, as Villa mixes concoctions from the beach to the jungle.

For two nights from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Villa will turn Ambar into Ubud’s newest drinking spot, mirroring Woobar’s vibrant vibe, where flamboyance and sophistication intersect. The cocktail menu will include fresh and fruity flavors, including the drinks Paint Your Life, Flower Mojito and Pink Kiss. There will also be a range of bolder cocktails, such as Monkey Juice, the Cacao Negroni and the Balinese Ritual. Afternoon tea “Mandapa Dulang” and small bites such as churros and spicy corn magnum will also be available at Ambar.

The master himself, Villa, is a beverage professional with more than 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Besides being a mixologist, he is also well-versed in wine and is a bar event creator, planner and executor. He also works at the beverage management level. Villa was an Indonesian finalist and Top 5 Marriott Liquid Master in Bangkok in 2018 and the East Indonesia winner of the OPIHR Gin competition in the same year. At W Bali, he is now responsible for overseeing and maintaining beverages to meet quality standards for all venues.

The word “Ambar” means sky in Sanskrit, so the bar’s location, perched high on a cliff in Ubud, is fitting, looking down at the lush green from a higher vantage point. Furthermore, it’s a place for guests to relax and unwind, whether they are in the mood for cocktails, afternoon tea or small bites.
