o celebrate 20 years of its retail presence in Indonesia, Starbucks Indonesia is inviting customers to celebrate the archipelago’s diverse coffee heritage through its newest specialty outlet, the Coffee Experience Center at Starbucks Dewata Coffee Sanctuary in Seminyak, Kuta. There, coffee aficionados can tour the roasting process that elevates the unique quality and flavor profile of each Indonesian coffee variety.

Visitors can also try out interactive on-site workshops to learn about the art and science of coffee, from sourcing to roasting and to brewing. The Coffee Experience Center offers a complete bean-to-cup journey, bringing together sourcing, roasting, brewing and serving in one place for everyone to experience.

“We are very proud that we are making another milestone here by opening the Dewata Coffee Experience Center serving a range of Starbucks coffees, all locally grown, sourced and roasted coffee exclusively in Indonesia, starting with coffee from the Aceh region. The Dewata Coffee Experience Center amplifies our leadership and passion for coffee, as well as our commitment to Indonesia’s rich coffee culture,” said Anthony McEvoy, CEO at PT Sari Coffee Indonesia, the registered name of Starbucks Indonesia.

Visitors can also learn about Starbucks’ responsible sourcing practice and how it has been working with local coffee farmers through its Farmer Support Center in North Sumatra. The collaboration ensures sustainable farming practices that improve the resilience, quality and size of harvests.

“Aligned with Starbucks’ global mission to inspire and nurture the human spirit, the Dewata Coffee Experience Center is also an immersive coffee destination that is thoughtfully designed to celebrate the connection between our customers, communities and coffee farmers that is an essential part in serving our coffee,” McEvoy continued.

“We believe that by highlighting the dedication and care involved in coffee’s creation, the more appreciation others will have to ensure its future, and we want to reaffirm our commitment to supporting coffee farmers in Indonesia by working closely with the Farmer Support Center to ensure a sustainable future of coffee for all.”

Tim Scharrer, managing director and vice president of Starbucks green coffee and cocoa, noted that launching the Coffee Experience Center emphasized Indonesia’s influential role in Starbucks' journey since the beginning.

“Starbucks has sourced high-quality Arabica coffee from Indonesia for 50 years, and is proud to be one of the largest buyers of Indonesian coffee in the world today. At the same time, we remain dedicated to working with farmers in Indonesia to bring responsibly sourced Indonesian coffee to the world,” Scharrer elaborated.

Located within the Starbucks Dewata Coffee Sanctuary, the Coffee Experience Center occupies a one-storey, 140-square-meter building adorned with rich copper tones and motifs borrowed from Balinese besek, traditional handwoven bamboo baskets. The center has been built with the same terracotta brickwork and terrazzo flooring as the rest of the complex.

The Starbucks Dewata Coffee Experience Center welcomes visitors up to a capacity of 30 seats from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Sunday 8. For more information, visit dewata.starbucks.co.id.
