T Maybank Indonesia Tbk has announced that 53 Top Finishers completed the Maybank Marathon Anywhere this year. The running event was held on Dec. 11 and 12 and consisted of three distances: 10K, 21K and 42K. The 53 winners comprise 10 men and 10 women each for the first two categories, along with 10 men and three women for the 42K.
“We are proud of the achievement of the 53 Top Finishers in the three race categories last weekend. This achievement certainly reflects the high enthusiasm of the runner community amid challenging activities during the pandemic as well as confirms the quality of the Maybank Marathon Anywhere 2021,” said Taswin Zakaria, president director of Maybank Indonesia.
As a reward for this achievement, the Top Finishers will each get a place in the Maybank Marathon 2022, which is planned to be held in Bali again, as well as accommodation during the event.
“We hope the plan to hold the Maybank Marathon 2022 in Bali can be a catalyst for economic recovery and Bali tourism, especially sport tourism, as more than 11,000 runners from 50 countries participated in the Maybank Marathon Bali 2019,” added Taswin, after he expressed his hopes of seeing the Top Finishers next year.
The Maybank Marathon Anywhere is an annual event that was first started in 2011 in Bali, marking this year’s race its one-decade anniversary. Moreover, it is the only running event in the country that carries an elite label recognized by sports bodies locally and internationally, such as World Athletics.
The company announced that all participants of the Maybank Marathon Anywhere 2021 who register, purchase merchandise, complete the run challenge – meaning they cross the finish line – and have been verified will get early access to register for next year’s marathon that will be held in Bali.
“The virtual holding of the Maybank Marathon through Maybank Marathon Anywhere 2021 last weekend, was the first moment in commemorating a decade of holding the Maybank Marathon. We hope that all runners who have taken part in the Maybank Marathon Anywhere 2021 challenge will have a running experience that is no less exciting than Bali, especially in terms of scoring their own personal running achievements," concluded Taswin.
For those who wish to see the winner’s list or get updates on next year’s event, all 53 names are published on the company’s website and Maybank Marathon social media channels.
