A hospital in Abra province was evacuated after the building partially collapsed following the quake, but there were no casualties reported, said officials.

The two leaders agreed to leverage their “exemplary model of major developing countries seeking mutual benefit, win-win results, common development and South-South cooperation”.

The ministry statement followed meetings by President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang with President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo in Beijing on Tuesday.

Nearly 5,600 patients infected with COVID are in hospital while 100 new deaths were reported, just short of a record 102 deaths on Saturday.

"While not a threat to humans, it would devastate our national herd. Essentially, all animals that are of cloven hoof are at risk," Ardern told reporters in Wellington.

"These reprehensible acts of violence further exemplify the regime's complete disregard for human rights and the rule of law," Blinken said in a statement on the executions of a former lawmaker, prominent activist and two others.

Asked whether the long-awaited call would take place this week, Biden said: "That's my expectation, but I'll let you know when that gets set up."

"I will not preside over any process that will abandon even a square inch of territory of the Republic of the Philippines to any foreign power," Marcos said in his first State of the Nation Address delivered before Congress.

A Myanmar-based watchdog said the military junta had not only carried out the executions illegally, but had also violated the Burmese penal code on the treatment of executed prisoners.

President Joko Widodo is set to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday to discuss “global matters and partnership in several issues”, according to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat.

Rajapaksa fled his country earlier this month after his official residence was stormed by tens of thousands of protesters infuriated by the island nation's painful economic crisis.

"No, Putin has no plans to visit Japan and attend the funeral," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, adding that Russia was yet to decide the country's presence at the funeral.
