T

he Brebes Police in Central Java detained on Tuesday six males, including five minors, in the alleged gang rape of a 15-year-old girl in December.

Brebes Police deputy chief Comr. Arwansa said the suspects were in detention at the regency’s police headquarters.

“We will proceed with due process, of course taking into account that [five] are underage. We are also providing support to the victim for the trauma she suffered,” said Arwansa.

The incident allegedly occurred on Dec. 27, 2022 at a house in Tanjung district. Afterward, the families of the perpetrators and the victim agreed to not take the incident any further. The meeting was witnessed by local officials but did not involve police mediation.

“We are investigating who initiated the agreement” between the two sides, Arwansa added.
