asmine Ricci has acquired a lot of travel miles under her belt, from visiting Bali every year, to taking a trip around the country to Yogyakarta and Raja Ampat with her Italian grandparents. Having previous experience from her family business, True Indonesia, she took the opportunity to start mytripology, a full-service tourism company that serves as a bridge for people to travel with comfort and safety.
“I think it is very important [for people to travel]. For me personally, traveling is a way to recharge and regain your state of mind and body. You need travel because when you go back and do your daily activities, you can be more productive and refreshed. So, this is why mytripology serves as a bridge so people can travel without worrying about anything, so time and thoughts can be optimal during the traveling period,” said Jasmine.
The idea for the business came to her in 2019, just when the pandemic hits. Her dream is to create an end-to-end solution for people who would like to travel. This means that mytripology is there from the moment a person plans a trip, until the moment he/she comes back. The company sells trips directly from their own website without any intermediaries and allocate their resources on finding partners in every destination they offer. She believes that a person’s mental state should be at ease when they travel.
“Seeing how we started reflect heavily on our partners abroad, we wanted to be more independent, we created mytripology and our own website to have our own platform so people can directly be in contact with us from that website,” added Jasmine on the way the B2C business works.
While the website offers trips for six countries, the company allocate most of its resources to curate a trip to Indonesia, in line with the government’s plan to make Indonesia one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. Drawing inspiration from Jasmine’s annual trip to Bali with her family since she was younger, it seems that all road leads to the Island of the Gods.
“The most famous trip is classic Java and Bali, because on that product, people can see a glimpse of what Indonesia I like, from the culture, beaches, heritage, etc. People outside, especially the U.S. market, many of them don’t know Indonesia, but they know Bali. For first timers going to Indonesia, people want to see Bali, so we include it on every trip along with additional destinations,” she said. She later added, “There are a few other destinations in the website, but for now we want to focus on Indonesia first.”

For trips overseas, they curate and handpick Destination Management Companies (DMCs) as their partners, who will take care of everything from transportations and tour guides, with the exception of accommodations. While the company is actively trying to make the curated trips more cost-efficient, Jasmine revealed that her business also values the service as the primary reason to purchase.
Building partnership with tour guides and hotels in areas outside of Jakarta is part of the ingredient for their success. For an informed and authentic trip, mytripology hires tour guides indigenous to the areas of their destinations. As much potential as they see within the region, they do believe that some work to improve tourism is essential for the country to live up to its true prospective.
“Outside of Bali, I think for the nature, wildlife itself, Komodo will be a great second option after Bali that will potentially be popular. But it needs time and effort for local operators to handle,” Jasmine said. “Outside Komodo, for example, in Borneo, the infrastructure is not bad, but people from the U.S. have high expectation for transportation and accommodation.”
At the end of the day, planning a hassle-free trip is possible for everyone. With partnership with suppliers all over Indonesia, mytripology serves as a bridge for tourists to discover the beauty of Indonesia and a vehicle to make vacations convenient for customers.
